Yesterday the attempt made by the Smithtown East girls' tennis team to venture to play-offs was officially denied by Hauppauge High School.

Hauppauge (3-7-1) and Smithtown East (3-7) faced off yesterday in a special one game tie-breaker to see who was going to the division play-offs. The previously 3-6 East tennis team was taking on a lower ranked 2-7-1 Hauppauge team. The East team was favored to win the match-up, but in an upset Hauppauge won 4-3. This will cap off the disappointing season for Smithtown East girls' tennis, whose final total record will be 4-11-1.
